Patience in Life!!!

Patience is very important in life because there are so many things that take time to develop for us to experience in a positive way. Of course we want everything right here right now, but that is not always the way it works. It takes time to build anything of any significance in life. A building, for example, cannot be sustainable and inhabitable without a lot of hard work put into constructing the foundation. If we were not patient with the building of the house and dedicated to it and believed that we could create it, it would have never been developed.

The good things in life take time. Sometimes we come into life for the mere experience of pain and suffering. Where we come from originally, we are always in love and experience great bliss, so sometimes when we come here we spent a great portion of our lives suffering and we wonder why. The reason is because pleasure isn't as enjoyable without the pain, so we have to be patient and endure our lives and accept our situations to be able to experience the bliss that we so rightfully deserve.

Patience is important in life because if we try to make something happen, we put a lot of stress on ourselves. Life is not about living in the future or in the past. Life is about accepting the present moment. Patience is probably the biggest lesson for man to learn because with infinite patience, we are infinitely merciful and accepting and forgiving. With unlimited patience we can accept any circumstance and are truly free. We are in need of nothing and are happy just to be as we are. The key to enlightenment is patience. Practice and mediate on the concept and you will find that you have found the keys to eternity.

Once we develop our patience and are in need or want of nothing, we find ourselves with everything and lack nothing. This comes though, not overnight. Patience usually comes through a lifetime of refinement and suffering, or through spiritual discipline and education. However you find it though, make sure that you do, because when you do, you will be rewarded beyond measure.

Is Trust Important?

Trust in each other gives strength and vitality to our relationships. It gives us inner happiness, which is priceless. It brings joy all around and life appears brighter and brighter. Its fragrance spreads far and wide. Trust keeps us in a positive mental framework. When you trust each other you feel self-confident. The feeling of believing others is electrifying. It not only provides sense of security but provides us new zeal to fight the vagaries of life. Trusting each other gives us a sense of deep bonding. It signifies that we are united to fight the battles ahead.

Trust is a synonym for warmth in our relationships.

With so many advantages of trusting each other, how do we feel when germs of mistrust appear? Life appears to be devoid of colour and lacks spontaneity. We behave with each other mechanically like robots .We constantly live with fear and tensions. We live in our shells and we are unable to share with each other. We live in suppressed condition, which inhibits the growth of our personality. As a result we are not able to contribute for the betterment of the society. We are unable to create a conducive atmosphere where there is transparency all around. A society whose foundation is built around trust is progressive and dynamic. Lack of trust signifies decay in the society.

Building up trust is not easy. A lot of conscious effort has to be made in this direction. We need to nurture our relationships with care. We should not let our ego destroy our relationships. This requires making constant efforts to know each other fully. The more we explore each other the more we can handle each others contradictions well. After all most of the problems in relationships occur because we do not want to open up. As a result we tend to look at others with doubt. We live in our own world of likes and dislikes, as we are not able to create a right balance. No doubt, people tend to view us with suspicion. If we are balanced and mature in our thoughts and action, people will trust us. For this we must shed the habit of finding fault with others even on a slight pretext. Instead we should identify and make others aware of their positive traits and strengths. This will enhance our credibility, which will lead to building trust. We must not indulge in unhealthy competition by trying to outwit each other. Instead we should master the art of rejoicing in the happiness of others. Good performance of others should spur us to act in a positive manner. Being jealous and competitive will be of no use as it will lead to destroying trust.

No one is perfect in todays era. If there would have been perfection all around then no trace of mistrust would have been present. We must build trust against the backdrop of limitations in our personalities. Mistrust is itself a reflection of our inadequacies and imperfections in handling our relationships with finesse. After all: reform begins at home. Let us reform ourselves by giving time to our relationships and thinking of ways to strengthen them. Trust will then follow naturally.

Go Hunting !!!

An Important thing to realize is that it doesn't make any difference how much difficulty there is - there are always great possibilities in any situation.
Generally, when people are disheartened, they can't see the possibilities. They see only the difficulties that are involved, not the solution. They magnify the difficulties, to blow them up, to make them bigger than they actually are.
The thing to do when you are disheartened is the very opposite: go hunting around in your situation for the bright possibilities that are surely there.

Diwali - The Victory of Good over Evil !!!

Diwali (also spelled Divali in other countries) or Deepavali is popularly known as the festival of lights. It is an important five-day festival in Hinduism, Sikhism and Jainism, occurring between mid-October and mid-November. For most Hindus and Indians, Diwali is the most important festival of the year and is celebrated with families performing traditional activities together in their homes. Deepavali is an official holiday in India, Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago, Mauritius, Malaysia, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Myanmar , Fiji , and Suriname.
The name Diwali is itself a contraction of the word Deepavali (Sanskrit: दीपावली Dīpāvali), which translates into row of lamps. Diwali involves the lighting of small clay lamps (diyas) (or Deep in Sanskrit: दीप) filled with oil to signify the triumph of good over evil. During Diwali celebrants wear new clothes and share sweets and snacks with family members and friends. Some Indian business communities begin the financial year on the first day of Diwali, hoping for prosperity the following year.
In Jainism, Diwali marks the attainment of moksha by Mahavira in 527 BC. In Sikhism, Deepavali commemorates the return of Guru Har Gobind Ji to Amritsar after freeing 52 Hindu kings imprisoned in Fort Gwalior by Emperor Jahangir; the people lit candles and diyas to celebrate his return. This is the reason Sikhs also refer to Deepavali as Bandi Chhorh Divas, "the day of release of detainees". Deepavali is considered a national festival in India and Nepal.

Deepavali is celebrated for five days according to the lunisolar Hindu Calendar. It begins in late Ashvin (between September and October) and ends in early Kartika (between October and November).

Hindus have several significant events associated with Diwali:
  • The return of Sri Ram after 14 years of Vanvas (banishment). To welcome his return, candles were lit in rows of 20.
  • The killing of Narakasura.
  • Govardhan Puja is celebrated the day after Deepavali and is the day Krishna defeated Indra, the deity of thunder and rain.
Diwali being festival of lights, across India people celebrate it via symbolic diyas or kandils (colourful paper lanterns) as an integral part of Diwali decorations.
Rangoli, decorations made from coloured powder, is popular during Diwali
Deepavali celebrations are spread over five days. All the days except Diwali are named according to their designation in the Hindu calendar. The days are:
  1. Vasu Baras (27 Ashvin or 12 Krishna Paksha Ashvin): Baras means the 12th day and vasu means cow. On this day the cow and calf are worshiped.
  2. Dhanatrayodashi or Dhan teras or Dhanwantari Triodasi (8 Ashvin or 13 Krishna Paksha Ashvin): Dhan means wealth and Trayodashi means 13th day. This day falls on the 13th day of the second half of the lunar month. It is considered an auspicious day for buying utensils and gold. This day is regarded as the Jayanti of God Dhanvantri who came out during the churning of the great ocean by the gods and the demons.
  3. Naraka Chaturdashi (29 Ashvin or 14 Krishna Paksha Ashvin): Chaturdashi is the 14th day on which the demon Narakasura was killed by Krishna – an incarnation of Vishnu. It signifies the victory of good over evil and light over darkness (Gujarati: Kali Chaudas, Rajasthan : Roop Chaudas). In southern India, this is the actual day of festivities. Hindus wake up before dawn, have a fragrant oil bath and dress in new clothes. They light small lamps all around the house and draw elaborate kolams /rangolis outside their homes. They perform a special puja with offerings to Krishna or Vishnu, as he liberated the world from the demon Narakasura on this day. It is believed that taking a bath before sunrise, when the stars are still visible in the sky is equivalent to taking a bath in the holy Ganges. After the puja, children burst firecrackers heralding the defeat of the demon. As this is a day of rejoicing, many will have very elaborate breakfasts and lunches and meet family and friends.
  4. Lakshmi Puja (30 Ashvin or 15 Krishna Paksha Ashvin): Lakshmi Puja marks the most important day of Diwali celebrations in North India. Hindu homes worship Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, and Ganesh, the God of auspicious beginnings, and then light lamps in the streets and homes to welcome prosperity and well-being.
  5. Bali Pratipada and Govardhan Puja (1 Kartika or 1 Shukla Paksha Kartika) : In North India, this day is celebrated as Govardhan Puja, also called Annakut, and is celebrated as the day Krishna – an incarnation of god Vishnu – defeated Indra and by the lifting of Govardhana hill to save his kinsmen and cattle from rain and floods. For Annakut, large quantities of food are decorated symbolizing the Govardhan hill lifted by Krishna. In Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, it is celebrated as Bali-Pratipada or Bali Padyami. The day commemorates the victory of Vishnu in his dwarf form Vamana over the demon-king Bali, who was pushed to the nether-world, and the return of Bali to earth from the nether-world. In Maharashtra, it is called as Padava or Nava Diwas (new day). Men present gifts to their wives on this day. It is celebrated as the first day of the Vikram Samvat calender, in Gujarat.
  6. Bhaiduj (also Bhayyaduj, Bhaubeej or Bhayitika) (2 Kartika or 2 Shukla Paksha Kartika): on this day, brothers and sisters meet to express love and affection for each other (Gujarati: Bhai Bij, Bengali: Bhai Phota). It is based on a story when Yama, lord of Death, visited his sister Yami. Yami welcomed Yama with an Aarti and they had a feast together. Yama gave a gift to Yami while leaving as a token of his appreciation. So, the day is also called 'YAM DWITIYA'.

How To Moon Walk !!!

Here is a great example of moonwalking, in the form of a GIF that makes it very clear:
Moonwalking in Wal-mart
And Michael Jackson was the king of the moonwalk:

There are many cases where it would be handy to be able to moonwalk. For example, you are a man and you accidentally walk into the women’s restroom. Wouldn’t it be great to be able to moonwalk back through the door?
So here’s how to do it, from several different teachers:

This next video points out that “everyone thinks they can do the moonwalk but very few can”:

Also known as 'stick dance' as performers use a pair of colorfully decorated sticks as props, the circular movements of Dandia Raas are slightly more complex than that of Garba. The dancers strike the sticks with their partners to the rhythm of the music. The origin of these dance performances or 'Raas' can be traced back to the life of Lord Krishna. Today, 'Raas' is not only an important part of Navratri in Gujarat but extends itself to other festivals related to harvest and crops as well.

History of Navaratri

Navratri as per meaning signifies Nine nights which are dedicated to the Divine Mother or Shakti. This festival is celebrated in the month of Ashvin Sud. Navratri is the longest celebrated Indian festival.

Navratri History

The practice of goddess worship was prevalent in India since the time immemorial even before the advent of Aryans. Our ancestors have always placed Devi or Stree (as she was referred to) into the highest pedestal of the prevalent social system at that time and they worshipped her as Shakti. There are references in our Shastras which confirms the existence of such practices. There are several myths and legends associated with celebration of this Navratri Festival.
  • As per one legend Mahishasura the mighty demon worshipped Lord Shiva and obtained the power of eternity. So he started to kill and harass innocent people and set out to win seven lokas. Intimated by his power all the gods from swargaloka appealed to Lord Shiva to tame the demon. Then Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwar (Shiva) united their supreme powers and created a divine being called Shakti or Durga the Warrior Goddess. Mahishasura who happened to see this divine beauty Durga got mesmerized by her beauty and approached her with the intention of marriage. Goddess Durga agreed to marry him but in one condition that Mahishasura should win over her in duel. Mahishasura who was proudy of his power agreed for the duel. The duel went on for 9 nights and the end of 9th night Goddess Durga beheaded Mahishasura. So the nine nights for which the war was fought is called Navrathri. The tenth day is celebrated as Vijayadashmi.
  • According to other legend King Daksha of Himalayas had a beautiful and Virtuos daughter Uma who had a wish to marry Lord Shiva. As a result she worshipped Lord Shiva and pleased him. Lord Shiva married Uma. Once Uma visited her parents to participate in a Yagna conducted over there, during that time King Daksha insulted Lord Shiva unable to bear the insults meted on her husband Uma decided to end her life by jumping into the agnikund where she was united with the eternity. Henceforth she was also known as Sati. Sati was reborn again and peace was restored between her and parents. In that birth also she married Lord Shiva and lived happily thereafter. It is believed that Sati comes to stay with her parents for 9 days in every year and that time is celebrated as Navarathri.
  • One hypothesis states that in ancient times Kshatriyas debarred themselves from participating any warlike activities during monsoon season. Once monsoons got over they found the time to start afresh with their war activities. So before the start of their war journey these Kshatriyas worshipped different aspects of Devi for 9 days which is today celebrated as the Navratri.
  • According to one legend Lord Rama who wanted to release Sita from the clutches of mighty demon king Ravana prayed Goddess Durga in nine aspects for nine days in order to gather the strength and power to kill Ravana. Those nine nights became to be known as Navrathri and on the tenth day Rama killed Ravana that day is called Vijayadashmi or Dashera.
Nine different manifestations of Durga are worshipped during Navratri they are

  • Durga :goddess beyond reach
  • Bhadrakali the auspicious power of time
  • Amba or Jagdamba: mother of the world
  • Annapurna: giver of food and plenty
  • Sarvamangala: auspicious goddess
  • Bhairavi: terrible, fearful, power of death
  • Chandika or Handi: violent, wrathful, furious
  • Lalita: playful
  • Bhavani: giver of existence.

Imagine Oneness...!

Imagine that there's no heaven,
See if you can try,
No hell below us,
Above us only sky.
Imagine all the people,
Living for today...
Imagine there are no countries,
It isn't hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die for,
And no religion too.
Imagine all the people,
Living life in peace.
You may say I'm a dreamer,
But I'm not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,
And the world can be as one.
Imagine no possessions,
I wonder if you can,
No need for grief or poverty,
A brotherhood of man.
Imagine all the people,
Sharing all the world...
You may say I'm a dreamer,
But I'm not the only one,
I hope some day You'll join us,
And the world can live as one!

navya.

Choose Ur Words...!!!

It's wiser to choose what you say than...say what you choose

Husbands and wives separate, friends become estranged, and coworkers refuse to cooperate. What causes these sad developments? More often than not, miscommunication. We have seen good people grow apart because of misunderstanding. They thought they were communicating, but they weren't. They were talking (arguing may be more accurate). What's the difference between talking and communicating? Communicating has two parts: talking and listening. The root of the verb "communicate" means to share. How can we share thoughts and feelings unless all parties in the conversation listen with understanding as well as speak? How do we tell our spouses we love them? Not by words, but by LISTENING to what they have to say.
We hear, but we don't listen. We don't absorb the points being made. What causes this breakdown in communication? It's simply because we have different backgrounds, experiences, and histories. The way we view the world and interpret events differs. These differences easily lead to clashes. Once tempers rise, we say what we choose instead of choosing what we say. These quarrels amplify the misunderstanding and further the separation. True, if we share the same ideas, there would be no disagreements, but what a dull world it would be!
The first step toward eliminating misunderstanding is to realize that we are all both different and the same. Because of our different backgrounds, we have different points of view. Yet, we are the same in that we have a need to be understood and appreciated. Knowledge of these simple facts is necessary to end misunderstanding.
The next time you feel yourself disagreeing with someone, stop and ask yourself how their world view differs from yours. Put yourself in their place. Try to understand where they're coming from. Always start with the assumption that, like you, they are decent people. When you think you understand (but don't necessarily agree with) their view, verify and clarify. That is, tell them, "So what you are saying is . . . and what you mean by that is . . .). After going back and forth a few times, you may be surprised to learn you are in complete agreement. The moral is never rush to judgment. Don't jump to conclusions.
You may understand their point but still disagree with it. If your opinion is different, don't you want others to respect your right to disagree? Of course you do! How do you get others to respect your beliefs? By respecting theirs! Just tell them, "I cannot say that I agree with you, but I respect your right to have a different opinion." Often disagreements arise because we focus on the words being used instead of focusing on the speaker. Spicy, hot, cold, rich, poor, liberty, and justice. Although we understand these words, we interpret them differently. So focus not on the words, but the heart of the person. Try to understand the person, not the words. The same advice appears in the Hindu Upanishads (8 ~ 6 centuries BC), "It is not the language but the speaker that we want to understand."
Occasionally, despite our best efforts, conflicts will develop. If so, there's no need of going into depression. After all, conflicts are always opportunities for growth. Use conflicts to learn where you went wrong and make the necessary corrections. As long as we learn from our mistakes, we will continue to move forward. When we seek to understand first and seek to be understood second, we will avoid most problems. Also, when we understand one another, there will be no need for forgiveness.
We can almost end misunderstanding if we empty our minds of biases, preconceptions, arrogance, narrow-mindedness, and stereotyping.  "As the sun makes ice melt, kindness causes misunderstanding, mistrust, and hostility to evaporate."
Hope we follow this and have a life without conflicts ahead... Happy communicating!

Progress Progressively...!!!

Hi, recently I have gone through an article which is very useful for all of us...let me share this with you....

We know that it was a revolution in food Industry, "Just 2 Minutes and your noodles will be ready to eat". Even in the company's outlet they are not able to serve the noodles in two minutes. And, we all know it takes a little longer to make it. But, your hunger was psychologically satisfied with the two-minute promise. No wonder, the product was a runaway success. We have never seen change in anybody's basic complexion and yet, the fairness cream does hit you can your psychological need. But the product does sell; in fact, sells in unimaginable volumes. The bollywood badshahs, ofcourse, do not use shampoos that are sold in Re.1/- sachet, for a dandruff-free hair. But, even the educated and the elite are psychologically brainwashed. We end up using all these products, hoping against hope.
Here the issue is not with the products or their advertisement campaigns, but what the visual media has done to the mass psyche of you and me. We have become desperate. We want results and we want it fast. Today we want everything instant. Instant tea, instant coffee, instant food, instant money (ATM), instant reply, instant cure instant recovery, instant fame and the list is endless. It has gone to the extent where people go to a spiritual retreat and expect instant nirvana, instant moksha...
We enroll in a gym and on the seventeenth day (of which we missed 5 days), we stand in front of a mirror and try to see our biceps, triceps and body shape. If we don’t find muscles develop, we lose our interest to continue. We instantly want instant body shape of all those men whose posters hang on the walls. Even without completing the full course of medicine we want to instantly get okay and move on to work. We sit in the seat of meditation for a few weeks and expect to transcend the mind. Common complaint is I am meditating but still thoughts are coming.
The curing of the slab and walls takes time. We have to wait for sufficient time before moving to the next level construction activity. There are no short-term solutions to long-term issues.
Implementation and application of solutions takes time. Let us learn to hold on. Only by holding long enough we will have long lasting and permanent results. Let's instantly drop the 'instant barrier'.
There are no shortcuts to the quality of life. 'Instant' is not possible with life. It takes time. Desperation for results will only result in ambitious time frames and ambitious time frames will only results in stress, unnecessary pressure and compromises on quality.
So, Start instantly, but progress progressively. A lifetime is left. Why hurry? Take the steps. There is no elevator to the top, when it comes to life. One step at a time...
